Ronan has over a decade's experience advising on all aspects of workplace and industrial relations, anti-discrimination and safety.

Prior to the VGSO, Ronan worked as a workplace relations lawyer at an ASX20 company; a Senior Associate at a market-leading Australian law firm; and a lawyer in the Commonwealth Government.

Ronan has advised Victorian Government bodies on:

  • employee disciplinary action and termination of employment, and acted in employment-related proceedings in the Fair Work Commission and Victorian and federal courts and tribunals
  • all stages of enterprise bargaining (including acting as a bargaining representative) and defending industrial disputes
  • managing organisational change, including restructuring; consultation with employees and unions; and redeployment/retrenchment of impacted employees;
  • payroll compliance
  • sensitive and high profile workplace investigations
  • management of ill and injured employees
  • protected industrial action.

Ronan was nominated by his peers as one of the Best Lawyers (Ones to Watch) in Australia in Labour and Employment Law in 2025. Ronan is also a member of the Industrial Relations Society of Victoria, and sits on the Appeals Board for a suburban amateur football league.
