    VGSO shortlisted in ACLA awards

    The VGSO is a Finalist in the ACLA In-house Awards 2011 and has been shortlisted for Excellence in Corporate Social Responsibility for its work in the Royal Commission into the Bushfires.The Awards will be presented at a dinner in Melbourne on November 24.

    VGSO General Counsel Shortlisted for LIV Award

    General Counsel Alison O'Brien has been shortlisted for the Government Lawyer of the Year Award in the 2011 Law Institute of Victoria's President's Awards. The LIV Awards celebrate talented individuals who have contributed to the advancement of the legal profession. Alison was nominated in recognition of her work in Public Law and her leadership role in the 2009 Royal Commission into the Bushfires. The Awards will be presented at an LIV luncheon on 18 November.

    VGSO Case Note

    September is turning out to be an important one for anyone interested in Human Rights law.Yesterday, the Court of Appeal delivered a significant judgment on the Charter of Human Rights and Responsibilities Act 2006.  Tomorrow the High Court will deliver the long-awaited judgment in the matter of Momcilovic v R. We'll keep you informed of developments and the implications for Government in future Case Notes and newsletters.
