Matt works in the commercial, property and technology branch on a broad range of matters.

Matt joined the VGSO in 2021 after more than 20 years in private practice. Matt has been accredited as a specialist in commercial law since 2014.

Matt's private practice included experience in a diverse range of industries including ICT, telecommunications, biotech, retail energy, university and research sector, health, education, transport and general commercial businesses.

Matt has acted in many high-value ICT / IP transactions including the NBN rollout and the rollout of 3G and 4G mobile networks. IP/ ICT clients have included public Universities, multinational ICT systems and services suppliers, an ASX listed Biotech company, private companies, IP generators and owners. Matt has experience in negotiating transactions with many significant research institutions including CSIRO, Melbourne University, Monash University and Swinburne University.

Matt has acted for an ASX listed biotech in relation to a broad range of regulatory and licensing matters including TGA & APVMA applications.

Matt has acted for energy efficiency businesses, energy retailers and the developers of novel generation and supply solutions. His experience extends to the preparation of customer terms (market offers), regulatory advice in relation to novel tariff offerings, retail electricity licence applications and variations to the ESC and managing regulatory investigations (ESC, IPART).

Matt has extensive experience in commercial, industrial and retail leasing Australia wide.
