Matt is a senior commercial and energy lawyer and an accredited specialist in commercial law since 2014. 

Matt works in the Commercial Property and Technology branch as a key member of the Victorian Government Solicitor's energy advisory practice.  Matt assists the State in delivering major energy infrastructure projects, provides regulatory and policy advice and prepares related statutory instruments and commercial agreements.

Before joining the VGSO in 2021, Matt worked in private legal practice with a focus on the energy sector.  Matt has acted for energy retailers, generators, wind farm EPC civil contractors and other energy industry participants. 

Matt is experienced in dealing with AEMO, the ESC and IPART.

Matt has a strong background in major infrastructure projects, for example wind farm EPC projects (more than 10 across Australia), the NBN rollout, mobile telecommunications system rollouts.

Other areas of expertise include ICT and IP transactions and acting for Universities (Monash and Melbourne) in IP commercialization and R&D ventures.
