Current practice

Leveasque has a broad administrative law and inquiries practice representing departments, statutory agencies, and advising decision makers in the exercise of their statutory powers and obligations.

Leveasque's practice focuses on Regulation, Administrative and Disciplinary law matters including: 

  • Advising on the conduct of investigations and formal inquiries, including Royal Commissions, parliamentary inquiries and boards of inquiry; 

  • Conducting merits and judicial review matters in the Victorian Civil and Administrative Tribunal and Victorian Courts; 

  • Advising on professional and occupational registration and licensing matters; 

  • Advising on public sector governance and integrity in the public sector;and 

  • Conducting prosecutions on behalf of statutory agencies.

Experience

Leveasque has a deep understanding of the public sector, having worked in government for more than 6 years as a senior lawyer and manager in a Statutory agency. 

Leveasque has acted for and advised numerous government departments and agencies in relation to safety investigations and prosecutions, administrative law reviews of statutory notices and coronial inquests concerning industrial deaths.

During the Royal Commission into the Victorian Bushfires 2009 Leveasque represented 77 local councils and subsequently assisted in the local government response to recommendations made by the Royal Commission. 

Some of Leveasque’s significant experience includes:

  • Representing organisations and government departments at Coronial Inquests into industrial fatalities;

  • Representing government departments in safety investigations and prosecution including appearing directly as a solicitor advocate in courts;

  • Advising government in relation to all aspects of occupational health & safety compliance; and
