Current practice

Julia's practice includes litigation and advisory work in constitutional law and administrative decision-making.  Julia also advises government clients on complex questions of statutory interpretation, legislative drafting, human rights, executive privilege, information handling and other public law matters.

Julia has extensive experience conducting constitutional litigation in the High Court.  She has also conducted litigation in the Federal Court, Supreme Court and the Victorian Civil and Administrative Tribunal.


Julia joined the VGSO as a trainee lawyer, and was admitted to legal practice in 2015.  Since then, she has worked on a broad range of advice and litigation matters.

Julia has also worked as Counsel Assisting the Solicitor-General for the Commonwealth (2017-18), Researcher to the Solicitor-General for Victoria (2015) and research assistant to NYU human rights professor and UN special rapporteur Philip Alston.

Julia completed a Juris Doctor with First Class Honours at the University of Melbourne, where she received numerous academic awards.  She has also holds an LLM from New York University, where she specialised in public international law and human rights.
