Current practice

Jennifer advises clients on matters of administrative law and general civil litigation.  Since joining VGSO in 2013, Jennifer has developed expertise in compulsory land acquisition and compensation law, and assists government clients with resolving disputes and running litigation related to public infrastructure projects.

Jennifer regularly conducts merits review matters in the Victorian Civil and Administrative Tribunal, including licensing, victims of crime and professional disciplinary matters.  She also gives advice on questions of statutory interpretation and the exercise of statutory powers.


Jennifer has recently provided advice in relation to compensation under Part 5 of the Planning and Environment Act 1987. She has also acted for government Departments in the compulsory acquisition of land for the expansion of a hospital and transport projects. 

Prior to joining the VGSO, Jennifer was the Associate to the Honourable Justice Karin Emerton of the Supreme Court of Victoria.  During her associateship, Jennifer had the opportunity to be involved in a number of precedential land acquisition cases.

Jennifer has extensive experience in court practice and procedure, particularly in relation to the Supreme Court.  She has worked in the Pre-Trial Chamber as part of the United Nations Assistance to the Khmer Rouge Trials, in the Registry at the Federal Court of Australia and as the Common Law Policy Officer at the Supreme Court of Victoria.
