Hayley primarily acts for the Department of Families, Fairness and Housing (DFFH) and the Victorian Managed Insurance Authority, with her practice focusing on personal injury claims by former wards of the State (non-litigated and litigated).
Hayley has civil litigation experience in the Supreme Court and County Court, and experience in alternative dispute resolution processes.
Hayley joined the VGSO Litigation and Dispute Resolution Branch in May 2022. Hayley's previous roles include Senior Project Officer at DFFH, and Senior Lawyer at the Department of Education and Training (DET), where she acted in litigated and unlitigated negligence claims, predominantly in the historical institutional abuse space, but also personal injury claims including asbestos matters. Hayley also led DET's participation in the National Redress Scheme, following the Royal Commission into Institutional Responses to Child Sexual Abuse. Hayley has worked in London as a lawyer responding to the Independent Inquiry into Child Sexual Abuse UK.
