The Transfer of Land Amendment Bill 2014 proposes a number of changes to the Transfer of Land Act 1958.

Under traditional conveyancing practice, the parties to the transaction meet to exchange cheques and relevant documents.  Electronic conveyancing, which facilitates conveyancing without requiring the parties to meet or exchange documents, has been available in Victoria since 2007.  While traditional conveyancing methods can continue under the Act, the amendments proposed under the Bill will progress Victoria's transition to a national electronic conveyancing system, streamlining electronic and paper conveyancing security measures.
