About the branch:
Litigation and Dispute Resolution enjoys an extraordinary diversity of exciting and challenging litigation. The cases are frequently topical and often involve public interest issues. A team of approximately 35 lawyers and an additional team of 20 legal assistants provide specialist legal services to a large number of government clients and departments.

About the role:
Due to recent movements within our State Care and Personal Injury Team, our Litigation and Dispute Resolution Branch is now seeking to appoint an energetic and experienced legal assistant to a fixed-term position to provide the team with administrative assistance and support. Some key duties of this role include:

  • Providing administrative assistance to an allocation of solicitors
  • Preparing correspondence and court documents
  • Maintaining orderly, up to date legal files
  • Monitoring emails, calendars and recording deadlines
  • Telephone assistance
  • General administration (photocopying, filing, billing, etc.)

About you:
To be successful in this role you will have the following experience:

  • A minimum of two years' experience in a similar role within a legal environment, preferably with exposure to litigation
  • Demonstrated experience in performing a range of legal support duties to multiple solicitors
  • Superior time management skills and excellent attention to detail
  • The ability to appropriately deal with sensitive and highly confidential information with a high level of tact, discretion and judgment.
  • Demonstrated ability to use your initiative to proactively seek work and identify process improvements
