About the branch
Led by the Chief Operating Officer, the Corporate Services branch provides critical strategic and operational support services to ensure the continual success and advancement of the VGSO. Balancing an appreciation of the complexities and nuances of the public sector, along with the requirements of operating in a competitive legal services environment, Corporate Services delivers proactive, effective and efficient services to VGSO's internal and external clients.
Functions within Corporate Services include but are not limited to; Finance, Business Development and Marketing, Information, Communication and Technology, People and Culture, Strategic and Business Planning, Business Support and Administration.
About the role
We are seeking a qualified Finance Manager to proactively and efficiently oversee and manage the accounting and finance function of the VGSO. The primary objective of this role is to:
- Ensure that finances, forecasting and utilisation effectively coordinated and reported on in compliance with financial management standards and practices
- Present business performance reporting to the Executive Leadership Team
- Business partner with Senior and Executive Leadership Team on strategic matters including pricing
- Proactively initiate continual improvement of finance initiatives and processes
- Lead the Finance team, ensuring delivery meets requirements
Skills and experience
- Tertiary qualifications in accounting or business related field, with membership of the Institute of Chartered Accountants (CA) and/or Certified Practicing Accountants (CPA)
- Experience in delivering effective forecast development and financial management services and advice in a in a time-recording / fee for service environment
- An understanding of public sector budget management, accrual budgeting, balance sheet management and output costing, and associated practices and procedures
- Excellent conceptual and analytical skills with an aptitude for problem solving in the context of financial and budget resource management
- Ability to provide authoritative oral and/or written advice, which is accurate and clear, on a range of highly complex and sensitive financial matters
- Experience in leading a small finance team
