VCAT

VGSO represents agencies in relation to a wide range of decisions reviewed by VCAT. Jurisdictions in which VGSO acts include planning and environment, compulsory acquisition compensation, FOI and privacy, professional and occupational disciplinary matters, victims of crime compensation, land valuation and equal opportunity.

The team also covers other jurisdictions such as births, deaths and marriages, firearm licensing and government superannuation.

We act to set aside subpoenas inappropriately issued against Ministers and senior departmental officers. We also recently acted for the respondent at VCAT in a matter in which a refusal to issue a licence to an interstate bookmaker was challenged.
