VGSO lawyers gives evidence to Senate Committee on privacy
The Senate Standing Committee on Constitutional & Legal Affairs is inquiring into the Privacy Amendment (Enhancing Privacy Protection) Bill 2012, which will amend the Privacy Act 1998 (Cth) to implement the Australian Government's first stage response to the Australian Law Reform Commission report For Your Information: Australian Privacy Law and Practice.VGSO Principal Solicitor Katie Miller, in her capacity as a LIV councillor and member, gave evidence on behalf of the LIV to the Committee's inquiry on 10 August 2012. Katie's evidence followed the LIV earlier making a submission in response to an exposure draft of the bill; Katie was a principal contributor to the LIV's submission. Katie has previously provided evidence to the Senate Environment and Communications Reference Committee in relation to online privacy. -
